2nd Annual Salsa Contest at Durham Farmer’s Market, September 9

2nd Annual Salsa Contest at Durham Farmer’s Market
15 Newmarket Rd, Durham, NH
Monday, September 9, 2013
2:30-5:30 pm

Think you make the best salsa on the seacoast? Prove it on Monday at the 2nd Annual Durham Farmers’ Market Salsa Contest. Last year’s contest saw homemade salsa entries ranging from the super spicy to the interestingly sweet.

Anyone can participate in the contest by bringing their own fresh homemade salsa, tasting and voting on the entries, or both! Entering the contest is easy: gather your ingredients at any of our farmers’ markets between now and Monday; whip up your best batch of salsa and drop it off at the market booth between 2:00-2:30pm. We’ll register your entry and put it on ice for taste testing during the market. [Note: make enough salsa for sampling, and you can drop off your salsa at any time but earliest salsas are included in more voting!]

Everyone at market is invited to vote on their favorite salsa anytime between 2:30-5:30pm. We’ll have chips for sampling the salsas and everyone gets one vote.

We’ll announce the winner just before the close of the market, around 5:45pm. You don’t need to be present to win, however, the winner will need to make arrangements to collect their prize basket of market goodies.

Any participants willing to share their recipe are invited to drop off a copy with their entry. This way, inspired tasters can pick up all the ingredients during the market to go home and try to replicate their favorites.
