The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire and ChildLight Yoga have partnered to help promote Seacoast Yoga Mala, the Sixth Annual Fundraiser for food and fuel assistance and yoga outreach, which will take place on Sunday, March 2nd from 9 a.m.- Noon. Hundreds from the Seacoast yoga community will gather for a three-hour class at Rivermill in Dover taught by area teachers that includes 108 Sun Salutes, chanting and meditation in a celebration of community spirit that will raise up to $40,000 or more for three Seacoast non-profit organizations. As a show of thanks to the many volunteers who are fundraising for this event, The Children’s Museum will offer buy-one get-one free admission on the day of the event to all Yoga Mala participants so that these volunteers can enjoy an afternoon with their families at the Museum after volunteering at Yoga Mala. ChildLight Yoga also will provide yoga educational materials and yoga activities for the Museum’s fitness cart to promote the benefits of yoga for children at the Museum and raise awareness of this annual event.

Benefiting from the Yoga Mala fundraising efforts are SATYA (Seacoast Area Teachers of Yoga in Action) bringing qualified yoga teachers to under-served population, and supporting teachers who work with special-needs populations, Seacoast Eat Local’s SNAP campaign making healthy food accessible by ensuring those who receive federal food assistance can use it at area farmers’ markets, with local farmers benefiting from increased sales, and the York, Strafford and Rockingham Counties’ Community Action Committees for direct fuel assistance to those who need it most.

Lisa Flynn, owner of ChildLight Yoga, said, “We have been long-time partners of SATYA and their mission to support yoga teachers who are inspired and committed to providing specialized yoga instruction in our under-served populations on the Seacoast.” Flynn’s own new book, a top seller on Amazon, “Yoga for Children: 200+ Yoga Poses, Breathing Exercises and Meditations for Healthier, Happier, More Resilient Children,” and Flynn’s product the “Yoga 4 Classrooms Card Deck,” a part of the Yoga 4 Classrooms program Flynn founded, will be among the educational materials provided for the Children’s Museum’s fitness cart.

Jane Bard, President and Education Director for the Children’s Museum, said “We are thrilled to help bring attention to this Sixth Annual Yoga Mala event and encourage people to sponsor a participant in advance by visiting yogamala.kintera.org. Yoga Mala volunteers are halfway to their fundraising goal to date, let’s help them get to their goal of $40,000 to support these three important Seacoast causes. With this special Yoga Mala museum admission offer, we invite Yoga Mala participants to visit the Museum right next door to Rivermill when they finish up for a fun afternoon with their families. We are glad to have this opportunity to partner again with ChildLight Yoga to share the benefits of yoga with children.”
