This is what the food revolution looks like — a community gathered to support local food producers. Thursday night was the first scheduled pick-up for the newly formed Community Supported Fishery (CSF) based in Kittery Point, ME, one of approximately 29 CSF’s in existence nationally. With 48 shares of sparkling fresh fish to deliver through the First Congregational Church, fishermen Dennis Robillard and lobsterman Steve Lawrence, organizers Marcia Gibson and Amy Richards, and Erik Chapman from the NH Sea Grant, were all present as the CSF got underway.
If interested in joining, the CSF is open to the public and pro-rated shares are still available for the remainder of the 8 week period. Fish shares consist of 2 pounds per week, or half shares of 1 pound per week. Lobster shares are offered at a self-determined rate.
