Rye Junior High Community Garden Update

From Rye Eats Local, an update on the Rye Junior High Community Garden and their beautiful new greenhouse! If you’re interested in getting involved, they’re also looking for a volunteer to help care for the school garden this summer:

The RJH Greenhouse is complete! The greenhouse was funded through in kind donations and the RJH 2010 Harvest Festival raffle.  Students in the 8th grade worked on the greenhouse throughout the 2010- 2011 school year.

The incredible natural arch leading into the garden was built last month by the Rye Elementary School fifth grade class and artist Mark Ragonese. It’s made of natural timber linked together to form a beautiful archway. Visit markragonese.com to see more of his creations.

We are looking for anyone interested helping to care for the school garden this summer.  Become a “Summer Seedfolk,”  join our garden wiki and sign up for a week or more of RJH Community Garden care.  You’ll receive email updates about what’s ready to harvest in the garden and what jobs need to be done. This is a wonderful way for beginners to learn how to garden while working with other gardeners! Everyone is welcome.
