Saco River Winter Market Expanding

From Paul Lorrain, manager of the Saco River Winter Farmers Market, about the opportunity to expand their market to a year-round venue:

The Saco River Winter Market has been a big hit for the last two winters, but the landlord has said if we can’t turn this into a year- round market we could be putting ourselves in jeopardy of losing the site if someone comes along and wants to do a year-round lease. As you know this is an excellent spot and he has told us we can use where we are as well as the parking lot. We all know there is a summer farmers market at Shaws on the other end of town, but we are very different as far as the types of vendors offered. I have asked the other market to join us on the river, to no avail.

This venue is going to make a great year-round market and there is no summer market in Biddeford. We are opening up our market to farmers from York and Cumberland Counties, as well as food vendors and craft people. Anyone who joins us will be able to apply for the winter market next season. As soon as we get a summer market going the landlord will give us a lease. Please have interested people contact Paul Lorrain at 207-423-9348 or [email protected]. Our survival for the winter market depends on the success in the summer; rent will be very inexpensive.

Thank-you — Paul Lorrain
